Bob Marley died on May 11th in 1981 and received a Rastafarian funeral service at the Ethiopian Orthodox church in Jamaica on May 21st. He was laid to rest in a mausoleum in his birthplace of Nine Miles.

His locs always came alive on stage! 

He was born Nester Marley but nick named TUFF GONG as a teenager  because he was strong and  could defend himself against oppression in TRENCHTOWN ghetto

OKOH ARTHUR AMANDO AKA DON AMANDO, CEO BACK2BLACK ENTERTAINMENT :  Bob Marley is a legend and his music is evergreen. From what I saw, tho, never met him when he was alive, he had one of d best dreadlocks ever!!


PERE WINKLE, NOLLYWOOD WRITER, VIDEOGRAPHER, MOVIE DIRECTOR AND FILM MAKER : Bob Marley deserves to be among the fraternity of Jamaica 's honored national heroes. He has done more for Jamaica through his music than most politicians have done to temper violence and TV commercials to promote tourism, in life and in death. Marley's music served, and continues to be, the unofficial spokesperson for Jamaica . Even his song "One Love" was adopted as a theme song for the Jamaican Tourist Board and voted as Anthem of the Millennium by the British Broadcasting Company (BBC).
I still keep wondering why the Jamaican government cannot give BOB the highest National Award of the land. Marley was a great man that encompasses any black musician in the world.He was real,pure & too decent to be true.He was an enigma..But what I still keep wondering is,"what about if Bob were to be a full blackman like P.Tosh,would all these promo be accorded to him?Don't you think because of his white colour,things are always like this?For real,BOB was a mix breed of black & white.Yes, he was so what are we saying?Still-on-still,Bob Marley rocked,and he is still rocking until time says no to this great icon.

What am doing simply is honoring his memory for works he did to encourage peace and unity in d African continent.With songs like Africa Unite which he performed at the Independence of Zimbabwe and others that called on d leadership of d continent to build a strong People.


CKNNIGERIA : I loved His Music and stage craft manship, and I think our present Generation will benefit tremendously from the messages in his songs. Africa must unite.

KAHA : I think of Bob Marley, I think of a true prophet sent by God to give true message through his music. His silky captivating voice brings your upper eyelids very close to the lower eyelids cos u get high naturally without the intake of a herb; even though to him "bob" A herb is a plant created by jah fi dem masses afi bring inspiration to dem jah children. Bob Marley, a True Rasta Man.. The reggae music pioneer has inspired me a whole lot and nothing compares to the strength in his words. He is a Legend and Bob Marley lives forever.. RYMZO :  Bob marley, as a musician was a big role model and inspiration in many people and in some ways to me.... I've tried to emulate his life for  example , he was rich but he never put his trust on material things, he stood for his ideologies and beliefs and defended them.....Bob is a hero to many, and that includes me.....


AMBROSE EHIRIM : On Bob Marley, he was to reggae what Muhammad Ali was to boxing; what Pele was to football, what Miles Davis was to the trumpet; what John Coltrane was to the saxophone; what Wes Montgomery was to the guitar; what Jimi Hendrix was to the hippies; what Art Blakey was to the Jazz Messengers; what Herbie Hancock was to the Blue Notes; what Martin Luther King Jr. was to the Civil Rights Movement; and, the list goes on and on and on...And besides, nobody recognized his projects until he passed. Such are the marks of great men!


CORDELIA OKPEI , HIGH RANKING MEDIA PERSONALITY: Bob Marley was an icon. He is to to reggae what FELA is to Afrobeat......a musical prophet who saw music as a tool of emancipation.
